Possibly Mule Scavenger or Mule Spinner?

Or if applied before he worked in the factories - maker of smallwear?

HO 107 piece 119 book 2 folio 10 page 14 will get a page showing same entries.

But on this page, the same character seems to appear after the occupation 'taylor' (William Wright aged 18). Presumably this would be interpreted as 'Journeyman'?

On folio 12 page 9 it appears again after the occupation of 'joiner' (John & Ralph Eaton), which again I think we would interpret as 'Journeyman'. A few lines above it appears after the occupation 'cotton spinner'.

On this basis, I agree with Cheshiremog and Tati that its Tape Maker/manufacturer Journeyman.

A big thank you to all those who offered suggestions to my question (I've only just picked up this up so apologies for not saying thanks before). I think tape making is a distinct possibility - I hadn't made the connection between tapes and ribbons.

Many thanks again

Molly
