Hi there

my grandmother lived there and I take it she got married from there in 1896  her first husband died and she remarried and I take it she then moved to clydebank. This is amazing in the last few days I have found out more about the second family I am researching than the first family in a year thank you once again

Unfortunately Hallside Street no longer exists .... according to the 1927 directory it ran off of Naburn Street which in turn ran off of Cumberland Street.

Lawmoor Street (the former South Wellington Street) can be seen at The Virtual Mitchell Library

The National Library of Scotland has a town plan of Glasgow of 1895 which shows hallside street running between Naburn Street and Camden Street and parallel to Caledonia Road ... literally a few minutes walk from St Francis'.

Hi Winniep
I just wondered what the name of the family you are researching is as I too had family in South Wellington St. (later Lawmoor St.) and Hallside St. around that time and I also had someone who was married in St. Francis's. My great-grandfather and his wife had a daughter Catherine who died in 1893 and at the time they were living at 28 Hallside St. Catherine died aged 2years and 10 months from burns to her body and leg. My grandfather lived at 178 South Wellington St. in 1919 and before that my grandfather lived with his family at 430 South Wellington St. I also have family living in Kidston St. as well which is in the same area.

Hi Winniep
If you let me know what you are looking for, the next time I go to the records office in Edinburgh (hopefully within the next couple of months) I will see what I can find out for you. You can either post the details here or send me a personal message.
