Looking again it does say 'w' on the 1881. 
Both Kate Reynolds 21 w and Mary Roberts 24 are cousins to Ann Roberts 54 who is unmarried.

To be honest, Thomas Reynolds was married at age 20/21 and died at about age 24.
 I don't think he had the chance to be a bigamist    and I don't think Kate was either.  she was just widowed young.
