Thanks Gerry!  It sounds like you and Megan have done a great job of piecing the history together.  I'm looking forward to discovering all of it.

Talk to you soon,
Anne

Hi Megan. You mentioned that your farrell line originated in the parish of Annaghlone that is in fact Annaclone as it has 2 ways of spelling it and the townland which the farrells are from is tullyorior. I don't have any info on Patrick but his son Terence Farrell is my neighbour's grandfather and he died in Canada. He had 2 sons Johnny and Barney + 3 daughters Rosie who is died and Sissie (97) and kathleen (94) both still living. Johnny was married to Kathleen and they had 3 sons and a 5 daughters. Their sons are called John, Owen and Terry and they all live beside me.

Hi Mickwally,

Thank you for replying to this post. As you can see the Farrell line has alot of people trying to figure things out. This is the information that I have found -

Patrick Farrell married Ann Devlin (in Ireland)

children -

Peter ( as discussed in other posts)
Terence Augustine b.  28 Aug 1842 in Annaclone
Sarah - b. 1846 Partick, Scotland

The family moved to Scotland in time for the 1851 census. Patrick Farrell the father is not listed and must have died between 1847-51.

Terence Augustine married Margaret Morrison on 13 Feb 1866 at St. Andrews, Glasgow.

They had 4 children all born in Scotland -

Patrick - b. 14 Aug 1866 in Glasgow

Ann Gillespie - b 26 Oct 1868 d. 23 Jul 1869 in Glasgow

Margaret - b. 10 Jun 1870  d. 14 Aug 1871 in Glasgow

John Terence - b. 3 Sep 1872 in Glasgow

Their father Terence Augustine Farrell died in Glasgow on 29 May 1886. A little over a month after his brother Peter died.

If any of this fits with your neighbors information please let me know. As I would like to explore their family in Co. Down to see if they fit. Having the name Terence could be a very good clue.

Please let me know and Thank you,
Megan

I saw your message about having Baxter's in Motherwell. My Baxters also were in Motherwell. Can you send me some names? I'd like to see if there is a connection.

Hello to All,

It has been quite some time since I have posted here and to be honest I became terribly confused. Since I started this post I have gone off to other branches of the tree, but keep coming back to Farrell. I took the information I had at hand and combined that with the information and photos provided by Sancti, Gerry & Megan and spent alot of effort between Scotland & the USA.

This is now the information I have which I have 100% confirmed.

Get ready people.

My Great Grandparents are Peter Farrell & Mary Fagan (Peter's parents are Patrick Farrell & Ann Heffernan (Heffron). Mary's Parents are Edward Fagan & Bridget Smith)
Peter was born 7th Jan 1874, Killala, Mayo, Ireland. Married 2 Jan 1900, Motherwell, Scotland & Died 15th Oct 1927, Long Island, Queens, New York
Mary was born 19th Feb 1878, Bothwell, Scotland & Died 30th July 1948, Motherwell, Scotland.
Peter & Mary's children are;
Mary Farrell who married Samuel Hogg
Bridget (Sissy) Farrell who married Thomas Laughlin
Anne Farrell who married Thomas McDermott
Helen (Ellen) Farrell who never married
Elizabeth Farrell who married William Booth Robb
Peter J Farrell who married Jessie Stanners Hardie
Patrick Farrell who never married
Edward Farrell who married Margaret Reilly
Michael Farrell who married Margaret (Meg) Coulter
Thomas Farrel who married Margaret Quinn
Frances Farrell who died in 1920 aged 1 month
Catherine Farrell who died in 1922 aged 1 year

Peter Farrells parents are Patrick Farrell & Ann Heffernan (Heffron)
Their children are: (and I think this is the area which has caused such confusion)
Peter Farrell who married Mary Fagan (their children listed above)
Anthony Farrell who married Sarah Powell. Their children are Mary Ann, Patrick, John & Anthony
Patrick Farrell who married Ellen Powell. Their child Mary.
Michael Farrell ????

Peter, Anthony, Patrick & Michael are the ones I am stuck on.

It's great to be back and feel free to jump into the deep end with me.

Liz,

Its great to see you back, and for your details information.
I've browsed over the records on & off since we last communicated and am still puzzled with where the connection lies between our Farrell's and your Farrell's from the 1901 census.
I'll need to take time to study what you  have given us now and sift through mine and see if it brings up anything new.
