Hi Drop Bear / Megan,

I am Gerry Farrell who Megan recently made contact with regards Peter & Mary Farrell (McPoland). These were my GGrandparents. My Father Joseph is the son of thier eldest Son William. He still lives in Motherwell and myself in Bellshill (2 miles). Its been a real thrill to find there are still a long blood line alive and kicking and searching their roots the same as myself. As with Megan I would love to see what details you have on your line of the Farrells so I can continue to add to my tree / research.
Farrell / Mcpolan / Devlin / Flood / Kelly/ McGovern/ McCormick
Letham / Leatham / Cattanach/ ODonnell/ BoyleRoss/ McLeod
McAnaw/McInaw/McNay/ Finn/ Eliott
Pollock / Hyslop/ Elder/ Renfrew/ Hart/ Brydon

Motherwell / Anderson / Tradeston / Govan/ Bridgegate/ Aberdeen / Old Machar/ Lanarkshire/ Leadhills/ Penpont/ Muirkirk

Hi Everybody,

To add to further confusion. We have just found out that Peter Farrell might have been married 4 times not 3.

On 4 Jan 1859 , Peter Farrell, age 22 married an Ann Russell age 22

This marriage took place at St. Patricks RC in Glasgow

Both of them are listed as single. So this must be Peter's first wife.

Ann Russell Farrell dies in 1863 . I do not know yet if they had any children..

Hope this helps any Farrells out there.

Add to the confusion, >:( What confusion, I'm not confused :-\ :-\ :-\ I'm, well O.K. I'M CONFUSED.

Your Peter that had the brother Terrance do you know if his father was Eddie and if he had a son also called Peter. Coz if he has my dad has a photo of the Son Peter.

There you go ANOTHER Peter. SO who's confused now??????? ;D ;D ;D

Hi Liz,

Peter and Terrence were the sons of :

Patrick Farrell and Ann Devlin

Patrick is listed as a linen dealer on certificates, deceased

I also think there might have been another brother James.

I am still trying to figure out how your relatives from 1901 Census fall into my line. Can you give me their parents names and where they were born.

Anthony Farrell and Patrick Farrell both born Ireland

I have always thought that this Farrell line eventually leads to Co. Down, Ireland.

I haven't been able to find any records on my Patrick Farrell yet but I posted Ann Devlin Farrells info in the earlier posts.

My Patrick Farrell is listed as deceased on the 1859 marriage cert.

Maybe if you give me your relatives dates and names we can put all of the pieces together.

Liz,

Also, the Gerry Farrell that posted to this thread is also a descendant of this Farrell line.

He is part of the familt that I had made contact with in Scotland.

So more confusion for you , he would also be a distant relative of your line.

I am currently putting together my Farrell Tree. Trying as fast as I can. When I sent you the pm about that I told my Mum & Dad about this message board and Dad has been watching closley. The surnames you have mentioned are ringing bells but they can't quite put a finger on it yet. I have spent most of tonight searching the USA for my Peter Farrell as sancti provided a death date for me. I am finding it hard to get my head around everything although I did find my Anthony and his family on the 1920 New York census. I do not have Peter or Anthony' birth certificates (yet) but I do know they were born in Ireland, perhaps Omagh or Amagh (something like that). They then came to Scotland and Anthony went to the USA. Peter went over to find a living for him and his family, but was killed. That is where my adventure has started. :-\ :-\

It was great to hear from Gerry, you may be right. A few of my Mum's Aunts & Unlces were from Bellshill. The quicker I enter information into my tree, the more people pop up that may be somehow related or can help in some way or another.
