Hi Madpants,

I haven't found a Michael yet in the Farrell line. But I have only found one brother so far for Peter Farrell, a Terrence Farrell , who signed his brother death registry in Scotland .

I am sure he had other brothers and sisters. But nothing so far.

Sorry,
Megan

Hi Megan,

The Anthony Farrell on the 1901 census that is the relative IS my Great Great Grandfathers brother. Are you researching because you are related or is it general resaerch.

Hi Madpants,

I only have one Michael, but he was born in the early 1900's in Motherwell and he married a Margaret Coulter. Funny that, it's problably one of the only names that doesn't come up in my family tree hundreds of times like all the others.

Hi Liz,

Peter Farrell and Mary McPoland are my gg grandparents. Peter was married for 3 x's . Mary McPoland was his third and final wife.

I do not have any other information on Anthony or Patrick , but maybe we can exchange our trees and put the pieces together.

The funny thing is that I had just made contact with the Farrells that still live in Scotland. My american line had lost contact with them in the 1950's.

If you want to exchang trees pm me.

Liz,

Here is a little background on my tree-

Peter Farrell b. c 1830 in Ireland d. 1886 in Scotland

son of Patrick Farrell and Ann Devlin

his mother remarried after Patrick's death to a Luke Flood in Glasgow 1851

Ann Devlin Farrell Flood dies 1861 in Glasgow

Peter Farrell's first marriage was a Martha Kelly ( no information yet )
she dies.

Second marriage was  a Hannah McCormick on 2 Jan 1871 in Clyde, Glasgow
they have at least 2 children, then she dies.

Peter then marries a Mary McPoland ( my gg grandmother )

They were married in Bainbridge Co . Down on19 Aug 1878

They have three children before Peter dies 14 Apr 1886. I have the rest of the family done all the way down to present day.

Let me know if any of this helps, I guess your Anthony and Patrick were cousins , staying on 174 Brandon St, Motherwell.

Hi Liz,
I can't really add anything to this apart from remembering Mick Farrell and his wife Meg coulter. They lived in Hope Street I think, just along from the Masonic hall in Motherwell. (Or else it was Pollock St)
Meg had a small "Jenny-a'-thing" shop in Milton St at the County Corner, next door to the Milton Vaults public house.
I was at school with their son James. We always had to be nice to him because his mother had a Sweetie Shop!! I think there was another son called Peter who ran a carpet business. There was a daughter who used to do the Irish dancing, but I forget her name now. (Kathleen or Catherine?)
Mick died many years ago, Meg moved to Pather in Wishaw but I'm sure she must have passed away by now.
She was always known as Meg coulter, I never heard her being called Mrs Farrell by an adult, although we kids had to call her that.

Thank you Lodger, I will get back to you on that as I have to ask my mother as they were her Aunt and Uncle. I have a note in my family tree "BOOK" where I jot things down and I have her as being called Meg. Looking good so far.
