Birth-Baptism Intervals

Hi!

Does anyone have any data which shows the interval between birth and baptism? It is for my PhD project, so any parishes at any time would be really, really helpful!

The Book of Common Prayer stated:
The Curates of every Parish shall often admonish the people, that they defer not the Baptism of their Children longer than the first or second Sunday next after their birth, or the other Holy-day falling between, unless upon a great and reasonable cause, to be approved by the Curate.

but of course in practice the interval could be anything up to adulthood

Hi  Tow of my families -unconnected, different parts of the country- seem to have waited & had a 'mass baptism' for their kids.  So the youngest was a baby & the eldest was 10/11ish.  In one family a young mother was baptised along with the baby & her own siblings.  These were all CofE members

Hi Stuart - if you send me a personal message with your e-mail address I'll send you my transcript of the baptism register for Willian, Hertfordshire (C of E) - I've gone up to 1901 and most baptisms there from the 1860s onwards note the date of birth too.  I've also noticed that the registers of Woburn, Bedfordshire tended to record birth as well as baptism dates in the late 1700s and early 1800s.  You might also want to look at the registers from Durham and Northumberland in the time of Bishop Shute Barrington (1797-1812) - see:
