   Barbara....

It is listed as St Neots union Workhouse.

one of the pages is ...

 RG10/1536 F 124 PAGE 37

it runs to page 43 where there is the last entry.

   Does that help?

Yes thanks Tazzie, it does, got it now, (how very odd that it's not listed on the enumeration page I looked at)  but still waiting for mrsben to tell us all who she's looking for, will bookmark it until I know if she wants an actual person look-up! Don't think I'll list all the inmates if there are 7 pages of them

I notice in the 1871 workhouse there is also a Rachel Woodham age 4 born Stow, Hunts.
Back to 1861 in Stow, Hunts there is a Thomas Woodham age 3 (OK its says born Stow & in 1871/1881 he says he's born Eaton) with parents Richard & Fanny, & William F age 6 & Charles 7 mnths. Could that be him ?

Have you got Thomas's father from his marriage to Martha Edis in St Neots 3b/669 in Oct/Dec 1879

I'm also interested in the 'Hilson' name as I have a number of Hillsons in my tree from Little/Great Staughton

Yes John's right,

1871 RG10/1536 Fol.124 P.42
Rachel Woodham pauper inmate 4    b. Hunts, Stow

Thomas Woodham   "          "       13  b. Beds, Eaton Socon

in between them are John & Esther Wakefield & 4 children - don't know if that means anything to you, odd if Thomas & Rachel are related that they weren't listed next to each other

Good thinking Barbara;  John Wakefield married a Hester Woodham at St Neots 3b/751 in Oct/Dec 1859.

But the Richard & Fanny(Frances) & son William are still about in Stow, Hunts in 1871 - but Thomas is not with them.

Son-in-law often meant stepson

Right, so here are the Wakefields from the 1871 workhouse:
all pauper inmates
WAKEFIELD
John  mar 57 Formerly Drover  Hunts Gt. Catworth
Esther    "  32     "         Labr.         "     Stow
Jonathan    10                                 "        "
Elizabeth      6                                "   Gt. Catworth
John             4                                 "    Stow
Mary            10 months                   "         "

Waiting for mrsben to come back on-line now!
