Hello Annie - Thanks for your efforts. Are you like me having
trouble sleeping?
Most of all I was hoping for a photo of him. I shall try
Teignmouth/Dawlish Museum.
Now that Bedford has stopped Times Access I can't use
the Times until I can get to my local library.
Best wishes

Hi Old Jack,

I briefly responded to you under the 1914-18 website.  I am carrying out archaeological and historical research into Tesson Mill in Jersey which was owned by the Pellier family between 1835 and 1895.  It was purchased (piecemeal) by Philippe Pellier and was inherited by his son William in 1863 and by the latter's son Charles de Chanval Pellier on William's death in 1892. CdeCP was the only surviving son of William Pellier and Mary Margaret Pellier née Hughs and he had three sisters.  Unfortunately the family has died out in Jersey but I understand that there may be descendants in South Africa but I have been unable to locate them (so far!).  CdeCP died in 1946 his wife Winifred Elizabeth Pellier née Harris-Pitts died in 1921 and he left a sole child - Leonore Mary de Chanval Burner née Pellier - who I understand was in South Africa.  Below are my notes

1881 Census - 7 - Roseville House, Roseville Street, St Helier
1891 Census - 17 - Cliff House School, Christchurch, Hampshire
1901 Census - 27 - Living on own means - Flat No 13, 2 Marlboro Mansions, Hampstead, London

The Captain Pellier of 1818 was his great grand father Daniel Pellier who appears to have got into trouble for appearing to refuse to agree seconds for a duel - I will try to find more on this but it's unlikely

Hello Vouvray - Thank you for this information. I shall try the local museums for a
photograph. Other than that I suspect that there is little chance of finding one.
As a matter of interest my searching on the 1914 - 1918 forum is turning up
some great results
Thank you and very best wishes.

Hi Signet

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

I think there's lots of information already given on this thread about Charles, but I'm sure Old Jack will contact you when he comes back online

Kind regards
Barbara

Hello Signet - I am sorry to say that I have never been able to trace any
photos.

Barbara is correct I only know what is already on this site about him.

I am sorry I can not add anything to help you with.

Best wishes

Old Jack
