Burial in Glasgow
« on: Sunday 03 February 08 18:02 GMT (UK) »
I have James Lambie, Tailor & Clothier, who died 28 April 1873 and his wife Agnes Lambie (m.s. Muir) who died 13 Sept 1873 both at 13 Adelphi Street, Glasgow.

Their son was a United Presbyterian minister so does any Rootschatter out there have any idea where they would be buried?

In an ideal world there will be a M.I. as he left a will and seemed to have some money!

Best wishes,

Fairlane

Hi,

The Southern Necropolis is not far away on Caledonia Road would be a good bet.  Theres also a couple of smaller cemetarys in the Gorbals area on Old Rutherglen Road at Pine Place for one.

Hi David

Many thanks for your reply - you have greatly narrowed the search for me so I'll contact Southern Necropolis in the first place and see what they have for me.

Best wishes,

Fairlane

Sorry this is a bit off topic.
Dear "fairlane"
I found you in an old post (2007) which is now locked and I can't find a PM button for you. (Just signed up to this today so I may have missed it but I've been looking for half an hour and this is the best I can do atm). I've scrolled through 23 pages of your posts
I'm VERY interested in your James MUIR m Margaret McGregour/McGrigour. Please contact me.
Sorry to all for the intrusion, if you want to pm me and tell me how I could have done this better, I would truly welcome your assistance. If you want to rant at me, please do it by PM. I think I've done enough "damage" here today.    ;) ??? ::) :P

Hello Angie

Welcome to Rootschat!  :)

I think you have to make a minimum of three posts before you can access the PM facility.

Dear Angie,

I'm very happy to be contacted and asking is the only way to further your research when you find an interesting lead.

Sadly I'm unable to help in this case as I was chasing for the parents of an Agnes Muir born c.1797 and if I remember rightly (it's so long ago!) there was a birth of an Agnes to this couple who seemed a likely prospect. When I got the death certificate for my Agnes her parents were not James Muir and Margaret McGrigour so I didn't take my research any further.

Best of luck with your research - it's fascinating when pieces fall into place and the tree develops.
