I don't need to look (yet) but are the Registry Office details easily available? Or did you have to go down the marriage certificate route?

Hello Viv,

You cannot actually view certificates at any Register Office. Only order certificates. You can though look at the indexes on FreeBMD.com or on Ancestry if you've a subscription.

I do have the marriage cert for Caroline Wagstaff to John Foster. It confirms that William Wagstaff, a weaver, was her father and that she lived in Cox St.

Did you manage to find out where Elizabeth Wagstaff was born? For that still eludes me. On some censuses she is shown as born in Cov, but on others as "outside census county" or the fictitious Haislering...

Anyway Viv, Rootschatters are a friendly lot, and if you've any queries or look-ups, don't hesitate to put them here and I'm sure you'll get lots of help.

regards Leofric

Wow its amazing when rootschaters find they are recearching the same families. I am also researching Wagstaff but mine moved from birmingham to coventry so I know there is no link.

I have all the maps for the london rd cemetry and know the place well if anyone would like me to go there and look for headstones. So far I have gone there looking for about 6 but they were all plots with no stones. Will be happy to help
