Thank you very much for that because it sets the correct starting point.
There was a lot of uncertainty in the family about some of these dates, which
I guess is a reoccurring theme in this business. My grandfather Fred was raised
a Catholic because of his mother's side (Atkinson) and this caused problems on that
hot day in August 1934.
Just one more small question - what does inst stand for?
Thanks again for your diligent detective work.
Yours
Scott :)

'inst' means of this month.
'ult' means of last month.
there is a b+w picture of the 1934 wedding in the paper BUT, it is doubtful whether you would get a clear copy of it. there are no catholic church frecords available for my perusal.

Hello. I'm back!
Is there a marriage cert for Ralph and Mary Hill parents of Edward Wilson Hill.
Or one for Robert and Sarah Gell, parents of Mary Ann Gell?

Hello! It's me again.
Can anybody help me with the following:
Ralph Gell's death cert
Robert Gell/Ann Gell marriage cert
Hannah Gell's death cert
Robert Gell's death cert
Ann Gell's death cert
Is Ralph Gell on the 1851 census?
It would be a great help in wrapping up this side of the tree.
Thanks Scott

Hi

There is a partially transcribed website http://freebmd.rootsweb.com which people use to lookup BMD's - it's very useful and it's free

There is also the IGI at www.familysearch.org

If the info you are looking for is not on either of those websites you will need to search the full GRO index  which is available at your nearest main library if you live in the UK.  It can also be searched online if you have an Ancestry subscription or at www.findmypast.com which is a paysite

Also - I don't know whether you are aware of this but most libraries now have free Ancestry access which is very useful as it enables you to make a note of all the info you need and then (hopefully)  get all the loose ends tied up in one visit
