I thought Elise might have had the maiden name of Le Gros

This seems to be the equivalent family ten years earlier...

Hi again

Their son Albert born 1865 in Stafford has Le Gros in his name but their older son, William, born 1861 in Truro had Le Sueur in his name.

Either birth certificate should give a conclusive answer but it looks (on the face of it) to me as if his mother was Le Sueur and his grandmother was Le Gros (at some stage)

Hello,

A bit on the history of Adwick le Street, so named because of it's proximity to the Roman Ermine Street and to distinguish it from a near neighbour Adwick on Dearne.    The church of St Lawrence in Adwick le Street had connections to the Washington family who were local landowners and a coat of arms in the church has the stars and stripes of the Washington family.   A nice village.
