Good afternon to you all,
I am currently investigating my father's roots from North Uist, and have discovered my Great Great Grandfather, John Maclean (b 1803) of Hougharry, NU, was married to a Janet MacInnes who was from the 'Small Isles' which I understand to be Rum, Eigg, Muck and Canna

Try as I might, I can't seem to pin her down on these islands.
On Janet's death cert, in NU, 1879, it states she was aged 67, making her birth year circa 1812, her father listed as Lachlan MacInnes (dec'd, Ag Lab.) and mother Catherine MacInnes (nee 'Macdonald' - dec'd). I imagine Janet's parents to be born circa 1780s.
Janet married John Maclean in 1830 in NU, so must have left home at a relatively young age, and I was wondering if anyone could kindly assist me in locating which one of the Small Isles, Janet would have been born on.
Kindest regards
McVitie
