Thanks Beth for this information.  Do you have anything on the death of a Dinah age 66 on 17 Jun 1835 in Fovant Poorhouse?  I thought this was mother of Moses and wife of Francis. If this is incorrect then who is this Dinah? Likewise if the one I have is correct than I can't find a Hannah in my records who fits the death at age 33 either and the timing does fit for death after childbirth.

I have found a marriage in Woodford, Wilts. 12 Oct, 1789 between Francis Goodfellow and Hannah Lawrence which would tie in nicely with the birth of Elizabeth, 1790, found by Frances. However, it makes a mockery out of a death of Hannah at age 33 following a birth in 1814 in Fovant.

Francis age 73, buried 1837 and Dina/Diana buried age 66, in 1835, appear to be a couple who each live to be seniors. I think it possible that there were two Francis Goodfellows whose children were being christened in Fovant.

Sorry I am unable to help more definitively.

Beth

Hi Wisby,

My partner also has Moses Goodfellow in his family tree. Moses daughter Mary married David Hoey. David and Mary child Eric A Hoey. Eric Hoey married Helen Garnett and their daughter Doris May is my partners Grandmother.
Could you tell me how you are related to Moses. I have also been trying to find information on Francis and Hannah so this has been so helpful!

Hi all
I would like to know more about the Hannah who died in 1814 age 33.  Has anyone got proof that she was mother of Moses and siblings?
Has anyone else considered that Hannah could be an alternative spelling for Anna and a shortened version of Dianna?  On some of the christenings between 1796 and 1814 which have occurred at Fovant there is a mother Diana with several spellings and on some there is a mother Hannah but the only marriage is that at Woodford of Francis and Hannah. Some records are submitted and some are extraction of parish registers. I also thought that if mother was already deceased this would have been mentioned on the christening record.  Some of those submitted records may have incorrect information eg there is a record saying Francis husband of a Hannah was born c 1784.  I think it is the same Francis father of Elizabeth born 1790. I also have a note saying there were 4 Francis Goodfellows in Wiltshire National Burial Index between 1633 and 1837.  I have in my notes one born c 1640 who married a Susan or Susanna and died 1714 at Fovant and another born 1686 son of Henry and Mary plus a third who married a Jenny and had a daughter Mary chr and died in 1762.  Unless there are a lot of Wiltshire records not on the NBI I think it's unlikely there would be too many more around to be having children at the same time in Fovant.  There are quite a few census records for siblings of Moses on this site if anyone is interested and I have gone through the Fovant records quite a lot to piece together the family groups. I am descended from Sarah, first Australian born child of Moses and Jane. Most of the family stayed in NSW but Sarah moved to Qld after marrying at Armidale so our branch is in Qld.

Hello Emma
I've just joined after finding your post regarding Doris May Hoey. Is your partner's mother named Helen nee Ferguson or Costelloe?

Hi Alan,

Yes. My Mother in Law is Helen Costelloe, daughter of Doris Hoey/Ferguson and Albert Costelloe. Do you know the family? This is very exciting!

Thanks,
Emma

Unsure of details of George Garnett birth, born abt 1861 - family was told that he was born in Parramatta NSW Australia,  but no other details about his birth, parents or siblings - he moved to Toppers Mountain NSW Australia and married Louisa Hill on the 9/11/1889 He died on the 31/7/1914. They lived around Inverell NSW Australia.
