Hi,

I am a direct relative to the Frain family of Putford. I have lots of info if anyone needs help. Mary Bessie Frain was my great Grandmothers sister.

Kind regards

Kath, how far back do your Frains go, and where? I believe my grandfather Thomas Joseph Frain was born in Mayo in 1877.

Please share whatever you can. Thanks!

Hi, I can't trace any of my Frains to Ireland I'm afraid, my Frains go back early 1600's still in Devon.

Thanks, Kath. I don't know if they were on their way to Ireland then or if they'd had to leave Ireland for one reason or another.

It was known to have happened, don't you know"

It was my understanding that Frain comes from Du Fraine (something like that!) which is French, I believe some settled in Devon while the rest carried on to Ireland.
