Have you by any chance seen J.P. Earwaker's The History of the Ancient Parish of Sandbach? There are a number of references in it to people of that name.  There is a reference for instance to one Anne Shaw, widow of Hugh Shaw, of Betchon in relation to a tenure in that township in the 1530s.

Hi Shari

I'll have another look at it to see if the names you have mentioned are mentioned in the book.

Hi 409cope

I think we are researching the same family of Shaw's in Betchton.

Richard Shaw born 1780 ish husband of Mary with children Ann 28, Richard 23, Margaret 20, Mary 16, Ralph 12, Samuel 9 and Emanuel 6 (1841 census) - NB Ann was bapt 24.10.1813 to Richard & Mary Shaw, Butcher of Malkins Bank and I presume had left home by 1841 census.

Ann had 4 children
Thomas bapt 1840
George bapt 4.5.1842
John bapt 17.7.1844
Richard bapt 4.5.1847

Ann then married George Corns of Sandbach  2.9.1849 and went on to have further family.

I am following the family through George 1842 who married Sarah Davies of Sandbach.

Do we have a connection?

I would be interested to know which line of the family you are following?

Regards, and with thanks,

Ashtoneve
