Scurr - NORTHALLERTON/BROMPTON

I am looking for baptism/marriages/deaths for the following children of James Scurr bpt. 25/02/1843 North Otterington and Jane Gale bpt. 16/08/1852 Brompton.

Children:

Mary Jane Scurr       1877 Appleton Wiske
James Scurr             1878 Northallerton
Elizbeth Scurr          1881 Northallerton
Frederick Scurr        1883 Northallerton
Margaret Ann Scurr 1885 Northallerton
Arthur Scurr            1886 Northallerton
Cecily Scurr             1888 Northallerton
Emily Scurr              1893 Darlington

The family lived in  brompton in 1881.

If you do a search on the IGI there's a lady in Castleford has children James and Mary jane in a pedigree resource file, her address is there for contacting her.

Have you just surname and county searched FreeBMD?  The childrens births are on there and marriages

eg Margaret A married Mr Sowerby
Teesdale 1924

and if you find any in Middlesbrough the TeesValley indexes will help if you email them with a question they can answer yes or no to if you're unsure if it's your Scurr.

Hi Madpants

Thanks for that.  It is a bit confusing as there was more than one family.  I have found the two on IGI and the children on FreeBMD. But I do not have their birth/bapt dates which is what I was looking for really.  Also when I search for marriage of i.e. Mary Jane we find one in 1902 and 1916?? Just not sure which one is correct. 

I will keep looking just thought some one may have the PR's.

I have a Mary Scurr of Brompton marrying Charles Corps in Brompton Northallerton 1780 Charles died 1840 Have no detail on Mary
Could it be same family? Mary born c1755

Julie, I have a Thomas Scurr born 1761 N. Otterington and marrying Hannah Storey 1789 ..... in my family .... wonder if these are connected to your Scurrs.

Could be Jim ........ I was thinking that Thomas's parents might be Charles Scurr (1736) and elizabeth Dale ...... they married in N Otterington but not until 1762 ...and Thomas was born 1761... but that says nothing......... but if your Mary was born 1755 and they were brother and sister, that maybe 'throws the cat among the pigeons'.

I'm trying to get my Mary Scurr who was born in Kirk Merrington 1792 and who's parents were Thomas Scurr and Hannah Storey from Chilton, back a little further.
