have marriage cert for Thomas Vost & Catherine Scurr on 30 August 1845 both of Blundell St. He appeared to be either a Hairdripen or Handripen. Fathers were James Vost possible Warper & John Scurr possible mariner.I would like to get further back particularly on the Vost side though would also be quite pleased to go back on the Scurr side if it was easily available .

Could his occupation have read Hairdresser?  The old fashioned way of writing the double s can look like a p.

This could be him on the 1841 census:
AGES ROUNDED DOWN so he could have been 19.

Bunyons Buildings, Botchergate, Carlisle, Cumberland

Jane Vost, 50, born in county
Thomas Vost, 15, Hairdresser, Born in County

Thanks Mo ,I did think that it maybe hairdresser but the end of the word just didnt look like hairdresser. You probably have got the right Vost as the children were born in Cumberland.

Hi,

there was a building in Blundell St. that made wigs and things. I have a census with one of my family on living in Blundell St. It seems people working in this place lived in Blundell St.
