David Davis Rector of St Davids Henllan and Bangor Teifi
« on: Thursday 24 January 08 21:30 GMT (UK) »
David Davies was rector of st davids Henllan and Bangor Teifi in the second half of the 18th cent.  Does anyone have details of the clergy at this church.  I don't have specific dates for him.  I am also looking for his parents.

thanks in advance

Hi Manaw

Have you found him on the 1881 Welsh census which is free to search at www.ancestry.co.uk or www.familysearch.org

Without a birthyear or birthplace, trying to find a David Davis in Wales is very difficult

Do you have any info about his wife or children that could help find him?

thanks carole

he was born around 1750 so won't be in the census

I have found that David Davies was ordained Deacon 14 August 1774 by the Bisho of St David's and, on the same day, he was licensed as Curate at Henllan (Teifi) with a stipend of £15.

next step is the parish records to see if I can find his parents

regards

PS it isn't easy being a davies and looking for records in this area - you are right.  practically every page in the census hasa davies :)
