Hi,
Have just registered for this site and saw you were inquiring about Queensland sites

- what are you searching for as  I will be going down to my local library to do my family (Qld based also) . Tomorrow ...
I usually go twice a month.   I've found 4 generations of my family in a small box of microfische.
( marriage , births, deaths , baptisims, wills)  ?? I think the records go back to 1800 ?I think -I will check.

They only open the geneology section 2times a week for 3/4 hours and you have to battle for a position.

Also a helpful site for gravesites and photos has been

 http://www.chapelhill.homeip.net/FamilyHistory/Photos/index.htm

Thanks
Happy searching
Duckie

Hi Brisgirl
Thanks a million for this site
Queensland Headstone Photo Collection

http://www.chapelhill.homeip.net/FamilyHistory/Photos/
(Nundah - formerly German Station).

Have just found photos of the first of my husbands relations in Australia plus some of their descendent's.

Excited!! You'd better believe it!!   ;D ;D I read somewhere that these graves could not be found because they had been washed away in a flood.

You guys have excelled again.  ;) ;)

Many thanks.

Get excited people... the Queensland BDM Registry is poised to release its index online, finally!!!  It's expected to cover the period 1800-1929.

Woohoo, can't wait!

I am especially looking forward to 1800-1829 -- Qld had its first european settlers in 1829 I believe.

More good news

http://www.justice.qld.gov.au/bdm/home.htm

The Registry apologises for the discrepancy between what was previously advertised and that which has been launched online. Due to the enthusiasm of the family tree researching community the registry is investing the further release of historical indexes from 1914 to 1929 in the near future. Your patience is appreciated

Cheers
Cando

Check out:

http://www.slq.qld.gov.au:80/find/articles/offsite

Using either your State Library e-card which is easy to get or your Local Public Library card you can access from your home computer many online data bases including The Times.

Hi,

There has been a problem with accessing the URL in my previous post for the accessing the online data bases available through the Queensland State Library.

May I suggest you try the following:

http://www.slq.qld.gov.au/

Then click on databases which will take you to the page where if you live in Queensland and possess either an SLQ e-card or a Local Public Library Card you can access from home several online databases including The Times.

Hope this works for you.  Regards, Gazania
