Thanks Dave, I tried emailing East Renfrewshire Council a few time but haven't heard back from them.  I will see what I can do to get the section and liar numbers.  I know that the weather here hasn't been all that great too.  I hope all is well with your mother.
Thanks again.

Cathy

Elmore Avenue, eh? My granny lived there for years. We lived across the road in Carna Drive from the 60's until I saw saw sense and cleared off in the 70's.
There's none of the family left in Glasgow now, with me being in Forfar and the rest in Australia.
Best wishes,
John C.

Remote chance we knew each other?  I was 11 in '68 when we moved there.  Carna was a bit doon the road but I knew a few folk.
Glad you had the sense to stay in Scotland :D

Depending on your age, we possibly knew each other.

I went to Simshill primary for 6 months around '68.

Hi again! By 1968, I was at King's Park, but I was at Simshill before that under the great Miss Adams. I was pretty well known under the name of Nippy. That name, however, is long dead and buried and I don't want to resurrect it, so consider this the last mention of it! I was also an officer in the 95th. BB (Junior Section), and was on the committee at the Cathcart Kirk youth club in the church hall.
Enough of the cv here, though! If it rings any bells you can let me know.
Cheers, John C.

Loons for promotion!

Have you come across a monument of two sisters called Brown with a relief portrait of the sisters on the monument ? :-\

@John C.
I was in the 95th and went to the youth club - 1216 club was on a Saturday night if I remember correctly.

I think you gave me the wrong reply; I was asking about the monument to two sisters called Brown.

@ southwoodside
This is an open thread.
It's been on the 'go' for a long time.
I'm having a bit of banter with John.
Having said that, I'll keep a look out for the Brown sisters.
What you have to understand is the size of Cathcart cemetery.  If you can find the lair reference, then it will be easier for someone to find the particular stone / lair that you are interested in.
Please have a look back at some of the earlier posts - there is at least one that indicdates how many thousands of people that are buried in Cathcart.
