Just realised that I'm still looking at the wrong cemetery.
Rita,
you have probably solved problems that I have caused for lots of Rootschatters looking at Cathcart.
There is Linn - the modern cemetery, Cathcart Old Parish - the one that I visit and have taken photos of, AND - you're wee map has just reminded me of the 'other' Cathcart cemetery.

I'm going there on Saturday!

Not only with your names, but with everyone else from my earlier postl.

Rita, you are a genius!

Go here Rita
Sorry and thanks!
I will write a full list now from both posts and start again - even if it is raining cats and dogs!

Well Dave,
I'm glad all of this meant something to you, as each of these graveyards meant nothing to me.  I was sent the map by the bereavement services department that I asked to search this for me months ago.
All of us that you are searching and taking pictures for are just greatful to people like you who will do this, dinna catch a cold doing this.

Regards
Rita

Visited today.
Will post reply on http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=279673.new;topicseen#new once I've uploaded and sorted through photos.

Unfortunately I never found the specific lair.  :(

I'll go back.

Thanks for trying Dave, the Grays you posted are not related to me.  But I'm grateful for your effort.  When I got the message from the Bereavement services they said for me to give them a couple of days notice and they will arrange for a worker to take me to the site.
, Do you think this means it is hard to find on our own it may be overgrown or knocked down I have check and no one has been to the site since Janet was buried there in 1941.  Her son was only 10 months old when she died and he did not know where she was buried.

If I can help out by emailing the Bereavement services let me know.

Regards
Rita

Hi Rita.
I'm fairly sure I looked in the right area - the map is really quite easy to follow.  None of the graves were overgrown, although some had fallen on to their face.
I'd be happy to go again for you.  Perhaps if the Bereavement service people were able to indicate where, within section 2F, plot 644 is - I could concentrate there.
Maybe they would be able to ell you whether the stone is still erect?
Dave

Thanks Dave, I'll email them, it may take a while as my first request took 4 months.  But any help at all will be good.

S'cuse me sticking my neb in . . . .

Dave - Section 2F looks as if it'll be easy enough to find and once you get there, have a wee look at the bases of some of the stones. You quite often get the lair number inscribed in wee tiny letters at one side. Might not be on every stone but if you find two or three, just work out the way you think the stones will be set out.

If all else fails and you see a cooncil worker or van or a monumental mason doing a bit of tidying up, just ask! Always works a treat for me.

Anne  ;)

Can someone tell me please what this Bereavement services is and how to contact them ?

I have an uncle and aunt in Bennochry Cem, Kirkcaldy and have no idea what the detail is about their grave location, number etc. I'd love to have info about their grave and MI but without the location of the plot I'm hestitant to ask if there is anyone who could have a look and maybe take a photo etc.

Have been following the thread and it has been most interesting- as well as revealing a possible source of info.

Thanks,
charlotte
