Wards from Donegal
« on: Wednesday 16 January 08 19:08 GMT (UK) »
I am new to this site and keen to get some info on the following family.  Neal Ward born appro 1840 in Kerrytown (his father was John) and wife Grace Gallagher (her father was James) born appro 1840 in Kincasslagh. They were married 21/02/1871 in Kincasslagh. They had 4 daughters Rose b. 27/05/1873 in Kincasslagh, Mary b. 21/08/1877 in Clogherdilure , Madgey b. 05/12/1879 in Clogherdilure and Margaret b.1881.  They also had 3 sons, James b. 1883 who emigrated to USA in 1910 and Owen and Bernard who moved to Scotland.  I have come to an impasse trying to get info on the 4 girls and would appreciate any help on moving forward.  I would also like to know how I can get info on brother James.

Thanks for the info, however I would dearly like info on the daughters as one of them, Mary is my my husband grandmother but we seem to be hitting a brick wall trying to find out where she went.

Have tried that but no luck.  Mary had a son John b. 04/10/1905 (father-in-law) but no father registered and we can't find out where she went .  She was on 1901 Census Meenbannad, Templecrone however she does not appear on 1911 Census but son John is (Grandson).

Suppose that Mary could still be in Ireland but living somewhere else while her parents were looking after her son. Will be great when 1911 census for all Ireland comes online and you can see if she turns up anywhere else.

That's a possibilty, however she may have been married by then.  I've also tried to find out if she married in Ireland, but again no luck.

Hi
Welcome to the site and I'm sure you will find it very interesting.  You mention James emigrating to Bayonne in 1910, however you did not say if his name was James Gallagher or James Ward.  The information I have is that James Ward, son of Neal Ward and Grace Gallagher, emigrated in 1910 to Plymouth in PA and his sponsor was his aunt Mrs Gallagher.  I assume she was Grace Gallagher's sister-in law.
Do you have any info on Grace's siblings?
