So sorry, I did not mean my question to cover old territory. The Camberwell Dorothy is not her as I bought the certificate, thanks Annie.
I just wondered what information that prospective Emigrants had to provide to the authorities before being accepted to sail to Australia. I was hoping that if this was so, the information may help answer a few questions on the family. I feel pretty sure they would have had financial assistance to come here.
I very much appreciate your replies and thank everyone so much for that.
Kind regards, Carley

Hi Carley
Do you have either the marriage certificate and/or the death certificate for Dorothy May? If so, do they name William & Ethel as her parents?

Hi Andy, yes the Marriage Certificate does, however on the death certificate of Ethel Keable, Dorothy is not shown as her child. The information provided by Ethel's husband William Keable.
The death certificate for Dorothy quotes Ethel and William as her parents.
She has proven a real puzzle to tie in and that is why I had this idea of what info would have been provided to Emigrate....also where the records might be...if there are any.

Hi Carley
It might be a case of waiting for the 1911 census to see if that sheds any light. I suspect that Ethel was not Dorothy May's natural mother and that her birth was registered under a different surname, but who knows what.

Does anyone know what documentation had to be provided prior to migration to Australia from London.
As far as I can tell very little information, if any, was collected on departure. It seems that it was an arrangement with the shipping agent and sponsors in Australia.
Recorded detail seems only to exist on arrival in Australia. For example NSW public record searches.

Thank you John, I am most grateful for that and I will follow the line of enquiry up.
I felt that certain details would need to have been supplied somewhere when families were migrating but had no idea where that would be. It is even better when it might be in our own Australian records.
Kind regards and thanks again from Carley.
