Welcome to rootschat Bill (Billy) !  :D :D  Which do you prefer, Bill or Billy?

I probably said at the beginning of the thread, my mum and her parents lived at 45 Erlmere Drive.
Would love to see more pics AND the A-Z page please!

If you have an A to Z from that time, we will be after you for the Old Manchester Map threads   ;D ;D. Only map I have that shows them is a half-inch to the mile ordnance survey, so not very detailed.

One more request to the prefabbys on this one please -

Map extract here is from a 1957 OS inch-to-the-mile sheet and is the only one I have that shows the two estates.  Can anyone identify which streets were which please?  I think Erlmere Drive, my grandad's street, was in the left-hand block, near Bury Old Road and the tunnel. Mrbothered also mentioned Broadmere Drive

If you scroll back to Kenhar's fantastic aerial views of the park in replies 5 and 9 of this thread, that should help as well

Hi all,
so sorry for not replying sooner. About the picture size, I'm not sure how to resize it once it's posted, if anybody wants to, please do.
Here is a copy of an A to Z page showing the roads on the prefab estates. I only have this and the adjoining page but can post the whole thing if anybody wants it.
Cheers all.

PS. I am named after my father so he always got Bill and I got Billy. I am Billy in the family but Bill to everybody else.  :)

Sorry if the pic is a bit large, again. I scanned it at quite a high resolution so the street names would be clear.
And BarbaraH, the girl I used to live opposite told me her Aunty used to live on the next road at the back of their prefab, which would have been Erlmere.

You're the man Bill, thank you so much, and to everyone else who has contributed to the thread.
I'm a bit hazy about resizing pics myself - found a way to do it with my photo managing software but then sometimes they come out too small..  ::)

We are now top of the list on googling for 'Heaton Park + prefab'  :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks again
Barbara

I wonder, could you do me a favour and scan your other page which I hope covers the area a little bit further along Blackley New Road.  With a bit of luck it might show my old address Wern Close.

P.S.  For quick and simple method of resizing pictures I use a little program called “Shrink Pic”, it works really well especially when send pictures via email.  It might help.

Inkwise, no problem sending the page but I could do with your email address. The file is 1.7Mb and is too big to attach here. If you send me a PM I'll send it you.
I have no problem resizing pictures, what I don't know is how to resize them on the forum after the have already been posted?
