James Honeywood Roberts
« on: Saturday 12 January 08 11:44 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I am wondering if somebody can help.

James Honeywood Roberts was my Gt.Gt.Grandfather brother he was born in London then lived at Ganarew Herefordshire before coming to Cardiff.

The reason I would like to get in touch with someone who may have done family history on James . I am interested to know if they may have found anything on his mother Elizabeth Finn who was born in Dover Kent circa 1811/1815/. I did find one family but my niece does not think it is the right one.

Any help would be appreciated .

thank you

Sylvia

Hi,
My Mothers Maiden name is HONEYWOOD. Her Mother is Florence Honeywood. Florence still lives in London and is 90 years of age.... Florence has two children, my Mother 'Marie' and my uncle 'JAMES'....... If you would like I can ask my mother for any specifics which may intrest you and perhaps I both. :)

There is a tree on Anc. which has the parents of Elizabeth Finn (who marries James Roberts) as:

Father:  William Finn Born 1799 Lenham, Kent. Died 1868 Hollingbourne, Kent, England (no parents)
Mother: Mary Fuller Born 17 Aug 1806 Egerton, Kent, England died 7 Dec 1891 Kent (no parents)

There is no indication on the tree of how they have linked the parents to Elizabeth Finn.

However I have found a 2nd tree which shows Elizabeth Finn (daughter of William Finn & Mary Fuller) marrying a James Earle.  Again this tree does not have a source link of Elizabeth to the parents.

There are a variety of other trees which have various information but none sourced.

If he died in 1903 then I took a photograph of his grave for someone a year or so ago. He is buried in Cathays Cemetery Cardiff

To Daniel T.Payne
Richview and Rayden

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply but Aol keeps cutting out.

Elizabeth Finn was married to George Henry Roberts their son James Honeywood
Roberts was born in London he died 1908 so I do not think any of your messages
tie in with the family I am looking for.

Thank you all for your time

I am keeping this short as I expect aol to close down any moment

Kind regards
Slyvia

I believe that it is the correct family

1836  London Marriage Banns have Elizabeth Finn marrying John Roberts 17 Jan 1836 at St Marylebone, Westminster - no parents shown on Banns.

1840  London Births  14 June 1840  James Honeywood Roberts

1851 census at Ganarew, Herefordshire
Household Members:
Name                    Age
John Roberts           39
Elizabeth Roberts   34
James Honeywood   11
Elizabeth Honeywood   10
George Henry             8
John Pathot             3

1908  James Honeywood Roberts dies 6 August 1908 at Neath

As I advised earlier there are references to Elizabeth's parents but no source information so I would not accept as correct.  A likely source to follow is the Honeywood name - which I assume is surname of some part of the earlier family, but not necessarily Elizabeths.

Hi Ray

Yes that is my family.
I have quite a lot of records but the only thing that I cannot confirm is the year that
Elizabeth was born and her parents.
Looking at the 1841 census it shows that she was born in 1811 but all others indicate 1816/
1817.
The information on Ancestry  about her parents  cannot be correct because it shows the mother's birth date  as 1806

Her daughter Jane's second name is Talbot which is unusual.

As I said before I am finishing this reply now as I may get cut off at any time so I have to keep it short.

Kind regards
