I believe in ghosts and have lived in many houses where I felt the presence or saw something out of the corner of my eye.  In fact if I sit at the d/room table typing on the laptop - like now - I often see something in the large mirror on the wall facing me, but only late at night. This house was only built in 1979 and no-one has died here, so I don't know where this "spirit" is coming from.

I did live in a house about 20 odd years ago where the "ghost" was decidedly unpleasant and like Mrs Tease, I used to yell at it.  When I eventually got so mad I shouted that I didn't care if he (I always assumed it was a he) didn't like me living in the house, it was too bad.  It was my house and he'd better go away.  I never had any problems after that.  Again that was  a modern house and no-one had died in it, however, every family who had lived in it moved out quite quickly, so I think there was something very spooky going on there.

I am very cynical.  I live in a house that was built in 1853 and I haven't seen a ghost.

However, a couple of years ago I was alone preparing a buffet and a female voice   right next to my ear said....

'this is nice'

It's not very profound but it wasn't a whisper, the voice was as clear as day.

I do mostly due to strange occurences. From time to time in my life usually if there is a situation regarding a close family member I will smell pipe smoke. My Grandad used to smoke a pipe. This has happened a couple of times when there has been a family death. On one occasion I attempted to phone my mum, only to find that she was trying to contact me to tell me the same thing.I find it reassuring that Grandad is still about.

A couple of years ago we lived in a really old house which was a listed building built in 1834. The day before we moved in I went up to do some cleaning. I must admit I was a little worried in case it was haunted. I took my dogs with me and let them have a good run round inside before I relaxed. Iam a coward!!  They say animals pick up on these things      Lincsbabe ;D

What about this for spooky?

I went to my mam's today, and we were sitting having a cuppa.  My mam said "oh there's something on the side for you there"  I had already seen an envelope with my name on it when I came in and thought nothing of it.  But when she said that, it suddenly reminded me of a dream I had last night.  My husband had picked up a card and opened it, he asked me what the writing was on the inside of it.  When I looked, it was a list that my mam had written with addresses and little things that she could remember, that she wanted to give me.

Anyway I said to my mam - that's broke my dream - and described it to her.  She was gobsmacked.  Inside the envelope was three pages of notes that she had written at six o'clock yesterday morning when she had woken up early.  She has told me some of it before, but there were lovely little memories and descriptions of her parents.  It must have upset her writing it, and at the end she suddenly realised that it was her dad's birthday yesterday.

Neither of us could believe that I had dreamt about her writing the notes, and she had actually done it, all on my grandfather's birthday.

I think he's reaching out and letting us know he's thinking of us.

That is another one from work.

You think that your hear someone speaking to you when you walk up the corridors, but when you turn round no one is there.

It could be anything though.

I was lying in bed one night, just dozing off, when I felt something jump up onto the bed. In a cold sweat, I looked around to see a black cat walking across the bottom of the bed.
I jumped up and banged the light on, but there was nothing there, except for small imprints where it had walked.
Even though it was nearly ten years ago, it still creeps me out thinking about it.

For as long as I can remember I have had what I call 'visitors' I don't see anything but I feel that there is a 'presence' which wakes me up. Now as this happens at night it could just be nightmares, but its always the same thing, I can feel that there is someone or something in the room. I've tried shouting at them to go away because to be quite honest it scares the bejeezus out of me when it happens, but then a few days or a few weeks later it happens again.
I'm still not convinced that its not just me having nightmares but I found out recently that my mum used to have the same thing happen to her (she didn't know until then about me as I have never spoken about it). She said that one night she was so fed up with it that she screamed at the top of her voice for them to go away (although she wasn't so polite if you know what I mean) and since then she has not had the 'visits' Unfortunately it has not worked for me!

However a few months ago I am definately convinced that my gran was with me. One of my last memories of her before she died was her giggling about something (she had a very distinctive girly giggle). I was alone in the house and heard that giggle out of nowhere. That was a nice visit.

Our house is not a really old one ... it was built about 1933ish.  But there is an older man who wears braces who wanders around at night.  He tends to spend time watching as you sleep... my eldest daughter has often woken up to see him beside her bed.

Whether he lived here or is linked to someone who did... or currently does... we don't know.  Have never seen him in a photo, so not sure how he fits in.

He's just making sure everything is okay I think.... never had a problem with him and he's really quiet and kindly.

Unlike the old lady who I used to "share" a bedroom with before I married.  I was in a share house with several others, and whenever my future husband used to come and stay the night, my bedroom door would open and then slam shut over and over again.  Turns out that the house used to belong to the Catholic Church and was a home to some Nuns many years ago.  Hmmmmmm.

When watching the TV show 'Most Haunted', I've often thought it would be a good idea to get someone with a link to past occupants to go in and 'upset' the spirits.
If the most haunted crew came to my hometown of Fraserburgh, I would insist that they take me to Fraserburgh Lighthouse to question the Hon. Henrietta Fraser. She was a snob, and would love to wind her up about her illegitimate grandchildren. That ought to provoke a response...
