Is 1837online the ONLY online place to see the COMPLETE bmd indexes? I love freebmd, but I've temporarily exhausted their indexes (I'm looking for rare ENDSORs in Chorlton on Medlock, 1837 to about 1880). I'm afraid that my impatience for more data will lead me to spend a fortune trawling quarter by quarter on 1837online, trying to fill in the gaps.

Is there an alternative?

Should I just be patient and wait for freebmd to add more data?

Should I just suck it up and pay 1837online?

FreeBMD does also have most of the scanned indexes for the periods that haven't been transcribed yet, births up to 1911, deaths up to 1910, marriages up to 1915. To access them, click "View Images" on the FreeBMD homepage. I have found quite a number of records by simply trawling through them. It takes a long time as the pages themselves aren't indexed apart from by quarter and sometimes by first letter of surname, however it is FREE to look and download these pages.

Family Relatives also has a fully transribed index of 1866 - 1920 - it's on PPV but the index makes it much quicker to track down your relative than with 1837online and the cost is comparable.

I haven't used 1837online at all since finding these - though FreeBMD don't yet include any years after those above. There are also some annoying gaps where FreeBMD doesn't have the scan yet, but you find those out as you go through. You could certainly cut down the number of times you have to use the PPV sites.

and click on View Images, then follow the onscreen instructions.
