Have any Rootschatters found offices that accept payment over the phone by credit card?  I suppose this could shave a day or so off the process.

Yes Camden RO accepted order over the 'phone and took cr card details but Bath wanted their application form posted in from their website for BATH BMD. However, speed didn't enter into the transaction in either case.
Patience needed either way :(

Hi Paul

My best result was ordering from the Hastings RO by telephone and paying by credit card on a Friday and getting the certificate next day on Saturday morning. I had to pay a 50 pence handling charge however.

Today's post brings the cert from Bath RO. This was posted on Fri 18th Feb so they wouldn't receive it until the Mon. and obviously it was posted to me in my SAE on Friday 25th so that's 5 working days turnaround for Bath RO. Not as quick as some but not too bad.

I ordered a death and marriage certificate from Auckland,NZ, by post, on the 12 Feb and they arrived this morning in the post. Brilliant!  ;D

Still waiting for a Marriage cert from the GRO from Feb 2nd! not so brilliant! :'(

Just received two certificates i ordered on the 4th Feb. Expected dispatch date was the 18th Feb. Posted 21st Feb. Arrived here in Australia on the 28th Feb.

Expected to wait longer after reading this thread.

I ordered two certificates from my local office on the 11.2.05 - still waiting. Up to now I've received them a week later

Will have to go lunchtime and see whats happened to them
