I have researched and collected a large amount of info on the Ords of Durham and Yorkshire. Names married into the family;

Wharton, Moody, Summerson, Dee, Paxton, Robson, Lonsdale, Bewick, Scratcher, Bell, Winship, Judd, Davison, Wood, Reay, Storey, Wilkinson, Haddick, Moore, Clements, Goodchild, Yourer, Bodina, Carter, Trotter, Nicholson, Gracey, McNair, Short, Crosby, Reed, Dumbling, Johnson, Strong, Brown, Patterson, Pattinson, Ramsey, Baxter, Parker, Hinds, Hardwick, Smith, Harrison, Wolsey, Yorke, Skidmore, Urry, Bennett, Parkinson and Hall

I have contacted and been contacted by many distant cousins but not one that is still an Ord!!

Russell
I have the WW1 medals to Richard Foster Ord who was in the 18th Battalion Durham Light Infantry.
His father, also Richard Foster Ord married Elizabeth Brown Carmichael (born Scotland) and was a marine engineer (merchant service) who was drowned when s.s. Thurso sank with loss of all hands in 1894 en route from the Tyne to Hamburg.
The son was born at 38 Alma Road Westoe, South Shields, 3 months after his fathers death.
He transferred to the Labour Corps after being wounded or otherwise incapacitated and was discharged with the Silver War Badge on 19 February 1919.
Regards
Tony

Hi Russell,

Do you have the ORD'S of Chester-le-Street??

At the moment I am going through the Chester-le-Street parish transcriptions of Mr H W Wood.  These cover Bapt 1688-1812 & Marriages 1582 - 1827

While trawling through I have noted that there are quite a few ORD entries, if you want me to check on any of them  or send all of them just holler.

If you want the lot then it may take just a little while.

Cheers
Geoff

Hi,

I was browsing and found your surname interests included Ramsey and Patterson. One of my ancestors James Ramsey b 1814 Newcastle married Hannah Patterson b 1835 Houghton le Spring. Family home in 1841 - 1861 was in the Craghead Co Durham area. Does anything sound familiar?

Regards
Alan

Dear Russell,

I am a direct descendant of Ord - I noticed that you had a Robson in your list.

My 5 x great grandfather Samuel Ord married Christian Robson on 26/03/1805 in Chester Le Street.......

Any connections?
Would love to know what info you have on the Ords.

With kindest regards

In case any ORDS (or others) are missing in the 1851 census, there are some that I spotted yesterday in my final trawl through ancestry before my subs. ran out! I was curious to see how many folk from Durham were in the Welsh census - hundreds!

Did I find any of my missing ancestors? No!
