I am looking for any information on Richard Cowie
He was married to Mary Ann Hay in Lanarkshire in 1841. He was the father of George Muir Cowie. I have no information on Richards parents, his date of birth or any other information. If someone could help me it would be very much appreciated.

Welcome to RootsChat.

I've checked through some census and can find Richard Cowie up to 1881.  He was a coal miner, born in Airdrie approximately 1815.  He is not on the 1891 census, so I suspect that he died 1881-1891.

His death certificate should show both his parents names, including the maiden name of his mother.

A quick search of the IGI has not found him yet.

warm welcome again to rootschat, had no luck finding his parents on the censuses but i did find that he married mary on october 1841 in old monkland (no doubt airdrie) if you visit scotlandspeople website and punch in jane cowie born 18/8/1855 which was the magical year for birth registrations you might get a little more info on this couple...
