Edwards West Mersea 1851 or 1861 request
« on: Monday 03 January 05 17:53 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find out about my mysterious ggg granparents.

In 1871, James Edwards (b approx 1821 - west mersea) and wife Rebecca (b aprx 1824 - Colchester) lived on East Road, West Mersea. Their eldest daughter is called Thurpa (b. aprx 1858).

Would anybody be kind enough to find them in 1851 or 1861?

I'd love to know if they had any children prior to Thurza.

Thanks
Nigel Punton

Hello Nigel

Here is the 1841

1841 census...........HO107/342/8
Leykes Hall, West Mersea, Essex
Jno Edwards  55 thatcher   Y
Dinah    "        50                 Y
James    "         20                 Y
Martha  "         18                 Y
Ann       "         16                 Y
Dinah    "         14                 Y
-------------------
their appears to be other family members in West Mersea in 1841.......such as John aged 28 who is a thatcher and probably the oldest son of Jno (John) above?
Their is 14 Edward's in total and one family might not be related as the head was born out of county ...  N
-------------------
Unless you have the 1851 and know otherwise..........I wouldn't discount other children for James & Rebecca

Nice people out there...........can Nigel have the 1851 please

Regards
Bryant

Hi Nigel in case you are not aware Thurza married under her middle name Ann to an Edward Clover Dec 1875 Bosmere 4a 1255 see 1891 Census ref RG12/1463/67/1

It is the surname Luer that is causing problems for me, it does exsist as a name, and I cannot help thinking with the Colchester connection an Army link?
