missing grandfather
« on: Saturday 29 December 07 16:07 GMT (UK) »
HI

This is the first time i have asked for a photo to be restored. i hope that the picture isnt too big, too poor etc.

the photo has a bride in the foreground but in the background on the right side as you look at it there is the one and only picture of my husbands grandfather in existance. it is very faint but was wondering if there is any way it can be enhanced so the features of his face etc can be seen.

many thanks in advance to everyone

Hi
I'm sorry but I can't get a true image :( :( :(

Can you rescan at 600dpi or more ??? ??? ???, as follows:-
Do a Prescan first, and then select a small area around your husband's grandfather and do the final scan of this area, at high resolution
Then repost this part of the image, as large as possible without compression ;) ;) ;)
Can't promise anything but we will try to get something ::) ::) ::)

Just to add to mudge's advice - please scan in colour mode

I've had a go and come up with something but it's not brilliant

cheers,

ok will crop and post just that area in an hour or two. it is a black and white photo. i think my scanner can only do 300dpi.

i have been given a few old black and white photos of family members but the quality of all of them if not great
thanks anyway for trying

Even though it's a black and white photo,
STILL scan in colour modeas it gives a greater tonal range
