New Zealand Calverts
« on: Saturday 29 December 07 13:13 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for someone whose research involves the Calvert family in New Zealand.  Of particular interest to me is an Arthur Calvert who was born in West Hartlepool England in 1855 (father George, mother Ann, brothers Frederick W and Henry, sisters Emily and Kathleen Ann).  Arthur moved to Wellington New Zealand c:1890/1900.  The 1871 Hartlepool census shows him as a 17 year old Engine Fitter Apprentice, though he very well could ended up taking the tailoring profession as his brothers were all tailors, his father was a tailor, his grandfather was a tailor, etc. etc.

I focus on Wellington as a home as I have a photo of him, taken at a Wellington Photo Studio, namely J.Y. Aldersley, Tasman Street, Wellington.

If any of this information sounds familiar to any Calvert family researchers, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks Althea.  That could very well be him.  Too bad it doesn't list his spouse and children.  Oh well, it's a start.

Thank you very much.

Thank you very much Althea for the links to paperspast.  This is a site I hadn't heard of and it seems to hold quite a bit of valuable genealogy info.

Thanks again.

Hi,

I am in New Zealand and tracing my Family Tree.  One of the branches has an Arthur Calvert in it, although I don't yet know his parents names.  However I do know is spouse and childrens details.

I have ordered his New Zealand Death Certificate to see if this provides information that matches yours.

Please feel free to contact me directly at (*) so that we can compare notes and see if your trees join.

Kind Regards

Kris

Hi - I think I know who Arthur Calvert was. If you're still interested MrBloggins, get back on and I'll and I'll expand.

Hello Sfance - I would definitely be interested in hearing what you have on Arthur Calvert.  Since I originally posted this query I have linked Arthur as follows:  Arthur married Laura Lavinia Taylor Andersley in 1886, and they had 7 children.  Arthur died in November 1946 in Wellington NZ.  I have years of birth on all of the children but not complete dates.
