Craik Family in Forfar 1800's

Hi

Can anyone help me with the Craik family from Scotland.  My Great Aunt married (1914) John B Craik (Born) 1879 - (Died)1917 whose family owned a Jute Mill in Scotland.

The website scottishtextileheritage.org.uk/partnerCollections/index.asp
has a mention of Craiks Ltd. Linen and Jute Merchants and Manufacturers 1877 - 1982.  It was situated in Forfar, Angus.

I have some Craiks in my tree too - Alexander Craik, son of James Craik and Isobel Steele, married Mary Watson who was my 5th cousin 3 times removed (!).

They had 11 of a family, some of whom remained involved with the family mill in Forfar.

I remember Craik's factory from when I was a child in Forfar. The building is still there, but it's no longer Craik's.

John B Craik was the son of John Fyfe Craik, who was one of eleven children of James Craik and Catherine Fyfe. One of his sisters was Isabella Steel Craik, so it seems fairly likely that his father was Alexander's much older brother, the eldest son of James Craik and Isobel Steel, but I have not researched the rest of the family, as they are not related to me.

Dodabell, I would be interested in reading the Craik history.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

My Great Grandfather was Charles Craik Gardener.

His mother was Mary Craik (born in Forfar 27/7/1813 and died in Edinburgh 2/5/1881).  Her parents were Charles Craik (1780?) and Janet or Helen Howe (1785?).

I would welcome any more information.
