Grant in Foveran 1851/1861 Census lookup
« on: Monday 03 January 05 10:35 GMT (UK) »
Hi, We are trying to trace what the origins of Peter Grant who was born in approximately 1785 and was an Innkeeper in Newburgh (district of Foveran). Any information from the 1851/1861 census of where he was born and who was living with him would be extremely usefull.

Many thanks in advance............Andy

Not sure if this is the same family,but here's information from Foveran churchyard burials;
Elizabeth Low,sp.to Peter,from Newburgh,26 August 1835 (Elizabeth md.Peter Grant,12 Dec.1812,Foveran.)
There are a few Grants but I noticed a Peter,from Newburgh,13.Nov.1826. As there's no ages mentioned, Peter could have been a father,son,or no relation to the Peter in the 1841 census!

Many thanks for your message. I think the grave must be of Peter Grant who was the son of Peter and Elizabeth Grant, who was born on the 6th November 1926 and must have died soon after.

That's what I thought. You mean 1826 though? It's fine when you can put a date to Elizabeth's burial especially when there's no headstone.
