Kelso newspapers
« on: Tuesday 25 December 07 20:38 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know whether any newspapers covering Kelso from the end of the 1800s up to 1914 or so have been scanned and put on CD? I have looked at the web but there is not much information.
Cheers

Hi woozle

Unlikely that they will be on CD BUT two places you can try.

First is the National Library Scotland

http://www.nls.uk/collections/index.html

Second is the local library who may have the info available on fiche!

http://www.kelso.bordernet.co.uk/information/kelso-library.html

Happy searching

Hi Ann
Thanks for that. I will certainly give them both a try. As you say I suppose fische will be the most obvious medium.
Thanks again

hmm
I've been to the hawick heritage hub a few times and they don't have half as many newspapers as you would think,
i was expecting them all to be there but i think a lot of the local ones might still be with the libraries, your best bet would be to phone and ask if they have the one you are looking for

Thanks Thisty and poppysmum (great names there!! It's worth writing things on rootschat just to get the names up). I'll try everything.
Cheers

If you haven't already got the info, the newspaper's name was "The Kelso Chronicle".
