Help!! McAffee doesn't work.
« on: Monday 24 December 07 16:24 GMT (UK) »
Hello

Can anyone advise us please. We had been asked to renew our subscription to McAffee which we did. The money has been taken from our credit card yet McAffee still says we are not protected. We have sent an e-mail to them asking if they will clarify what is going on but have had no reply.

If we click on the McAffee picture at the bottom of the screen the computer just sticks and we have to reboot.

Should we just cancel our subscription, get money back and try another product?

Hi Jim

Hubby still looking into problem. NO CONTACT/REPLY at all from McAffee. It's disgusting isn't it. They SHOULD BE EXPOSED! It's fraud because they claim 24/7 customer care.

Going off line now, just in case.

Thanks for your reply.

I think when it says you are NOT PROTECTED it is not strictly true.  It probably means you do not have the latest definitions.

I would just carry on as normal if I were you and just ignore their paranoia inducing messages until their support department gets back to you.

Hi:
When I have had that problem in the past, I have just clicked on the McAfee icon in the task bar, brought up the security center and followed instructions.
It probably just needs to update your system.

Hi to you all
Thanks to your words of advice and support.

When we click on the McAffee icon in the task bar it just seizes up the whole computer and we have to reboot.

There are two McAffee icons on the lower task bar and they both show a white cross on a red background. I will keep you all informed.

Good day:
You might try downloading a free program from http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html
In the past it has cleaned up problems that I have had with my computer.
                             Regards Ian.

Finally McAffee made contact. The problem seemed to be because they still had us registered under an old e-mail address.

We are up and running now.

Thanks to you all for support.
