In 1944, Dennis George Tilt married a Mavis Povah in `The Parish Church of Grangetown` (which is this?). Both were in the forces, Dennis `Gunner R.A.` and Mavis `A.T.S.`. Both give their address as `Grange Farm`, which I believe was, or is, in the Grangetown area and may now be a garden nursery.
Does anyone know if Grange Farm was being used to house military personnel during this time or would this have been the home of one of them. The occupation of Dennis`s father, George Tilt, is either `Maulster` (to do with beer making), or `Moulder`, the writing being indistinct and Mavis`s father, William Povah, is a `Corn Merchant`
What is interesting, to me that is, is the fact that a year later, in 1945, a William Robert Tilt married Elsie Stephenson in Sunderland and William`s occupation has previously been stated as a `Brewer` (Maulster?) for the now defunct, Vaux Brewery.
William R and Elsie resided at 3, Salem Hill South, Hendon, where I was born, and I have yet to establish the connection between Dennis and William.
Any help/info re the above would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Jim
