You can also search Ancestry define Newspaper and Magazine database, and it will give you the year and page but not the article details.

There are also a lot of collected editions on the Internet archive
http://www.archive.org

These seem to be not original edtions though there is a lot of material there
This is searchable (when you have located an edition), but not searchable as a whole
Douglas, Varnden, Joy(i)ce Surrey, Clarke Northants/Hunts, Pullen Worcs/Herefords, Holmes Birmingham/USA/Canada/Australia, Jackson Cheshire/Yorkshire, Lomas Cheshire, Lee Yorkshire, Cocks Lancashire, Leah Cheshire, Cook Yorkshire, Catlow Lancashire

Hello. I'm anxious to read the obituary of Dr William BENTON of Barton-Upon-Humber, which was published in the Gentleman's Magazine of 2nd January 1800. Can anyone help me to access a copy? Many thanks.

A search for [ "william benton" + humber ] in Google Book Search  comes up with an obituary of farmer William Benton of Barton-Upon-Humber from a Gentleman's Magazine of 1807 - any help?

Many thanks. The farmer was son of the surgeon. I've discovered a full run of the magazine in one of the local libraries so hope to be able to obtain copies of the obits for father and son. Thanks again.
