Deb
I agree with your latest.
Richard Harry = 29 Apr 1800 St Kew by Banns,Philippa Thomas.
William Thomas ( ? her father) was a witness.I have a copy.

The Will of Philippa (Thomas) Harry mentions:
Richard Francis Grose of Hendra
John Hicks of Bodmin-blacksmith
Susanna Hicks.

To save confusion.
The 1764 Will of a Richard Harry of St Kew has a bond entered into by his wife Ann (nee Lobb) and two others William Lobb of St Breock and Thomas Lobb of St Breock both yeomen.I think that this Richard Harry = 17 Apr 1752 St Kew ,Ann Lobb.

Again not to confuse???
Another Richard Harry perhaps son of John Harry and Margaret Hamley,= 14.6.1768 St Kew,Ann/Anne Brown.

There are other Richard Harry not yet mentioned.
Wyatt and Wood of Glossop, Derbyshire. Longstaff of Bishop Auckland,Durham. Harry of St Austell and St Kew,Cornwall. Charters of County Antrim.Knight of Warwickshire.Hendy of Ballyedmonduff.

rex ...

in 1841
Richard (tailor) and Phillippa Harry (shopkeeper) still have Susanna Hicks (30, staymaker) living with them. John Hicks , Susanna's husband, is not with them in the 1841 or 51 censuses ... what is Susanna's maiden name ?

so John Hicks inherited , Richard Harry's 'fortune' ...... that's sad ...

Just noticed a very old Catherine Thomas living in Egloshayle . she was born 1751. Egloshayle is in Bodmin .... she is surrounded by CLEAVE families ....I was hoping to find Phillippa Thomas' parents around.

will try and find Susanna' s maiden name ...

Hi Rex

Somehow Susanna Hicks must be releted , why else would Philippa Harry leave her 'estate' to her, and then Susannah in turn leaves everything to John Hicks, the blacksmith.

I have searched IGI for a marriage , but nothing pops up . I was thinking that Susanna may have married after 1837 as she is 30 in 1841 and 43 in 1851 so b c 1818...so would be around 20 in 1838.

these are the marriages I have found for John Hick*s in Cornwall prior to 1841

*Susanna Tucker ~ Dec q 1838 Camelford
* Susanna Cock ~ sept q 1838 Truro
* Susanna Richards ~ dec q 1838 Redruth
* Susanna Webster ~ dec q 1838 Redruth

any surnames ring a bell?

Sorry for the delay.Back again.Needed to refill the refrigerator.

One of the Wills/Admion/Bond referred to him as blacksmith of Bodmin.

I don't recognize any of the John Hicks marriages you quote.

There must be a reason why John Hicks and Susannah were living apart yet he still benefited when Susanna died.I see what looks like hi family and siblings at Bodmin.
Looks like dressmaking in the family.
