Hi Marilyn, glad you found the grave.

I can imagine the state it would be in. I have vague recollections that my Nana, May ENNIS was burried close by.
That age is interesting, but not unexpected.
I just looked and I don't have his death certificate.
He was baptised; 30 September, 1827. This is from the Uphill parish records, (Which for some reason are no longer online.) it didn't have his age at the time, merely said "infant". I think if he was three years old it would have said so.
The censuses for 1841 & 1851 have his age as 14 & 24 respectively. This = 1827 for birth.
His age on the passenger list of "Lord Burleigh" in 1855, is given as 26, ( = 1829 for birth) and his age on his marriage certificate, 29 May 1873, is given as 45. ( = 1828 for birth)
So it's debatable when he was actually born.
I'll have to send for his death certificate. It was probably on my list to get next anyway.

I'd be interested to see who was the informant.
I generally stick with marriage certificates for the most accurate information, on the assumption that at marriage age, we generally know our own age, who our parents were and where we were born.
I don't yet have any certificates from England so I have no idea what's on them. With George of course, being before civic registration, there will only be the parish records and some have very scanty information.
Anyway....I'll send you a PM, (private message) but you may have to make a few posts here before you can reply. RC has some rules to protect members from unwanted spam.
Leonie.
