You mentioned that Thomas Pond was living at ‘40 Anstey’ in the 1851 census. I think you will find that the ‘40’ was the enumerator’s number and not part of the address. There were no numbers along Anstey Road, except for Woodbine Cottages, until about 1900. Thomas was living in part of tithe no.459 - a pair of cottages owned by William Kent. Thomas’ had a rateable value of £4/10/-. Earlier, in the 1841 census, Thomas, his wife, Jane, and daughter, Frances, had been living in one of the Woodbine Cottages, having moved from Holybourne.
