Whitby Marriage 1888 (Hoggarth, Gibson)

Hi,

If anyone has access to parish records for Whitby in 1888, I'd really appreciate a lookup of this marriage:

Frances Mary Gibson and Frank Hoggarth

It's in the GRO for Whitby Sep-Dec 1888, vol94 894.

I'm moving sideways here to investigate non-blood relations from this family, who grew up and lived with my own ancestors. For that reason I can't really justify purchasing certificates for all of the offshoots, but nevertheless would like to be sure I'm looking at the correct people. So I'm hoping there will be a parish register containing Whitby marriages without resorting to the GRO every time.

To look them up in the parish records you need the name of the church where they married

Frank Hoggarth 34   b Dursley Yorks journeyman tailor
Frances M  41 b Whitby
Mary G Lawson 8 neice b Durham

Poor little George W Lawson is with his aunt & uncle - Thomas & Ada Lawrence  (Ada is Frances's sister)

Wow, thanks I hadn't spotted that.

That's the third child from that family who was left with relatives while they brought up the rest. I guess it could have been census night but there is certainly a pattern emerging.

Carole, the Mary G(ibson) Lawson referred to in your post is my grandmother. I realise she is somewhat "off your radar" but if you would like more information about her I think I can help somewhat.

I'm looking for information on the Lawson family is George and Mary Jane nee Gibson, Mary G's parents, my great grandparents and their 9 children - I have a few details about these if you are interested.
