MEW Family, blacksmiths in Bucks.
« on: Monday 10 December 07 19:17 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the ancestors of William Mew of Oving who married Mary. William was buried in 1797

Their possible son was William Mew who married Susannah Hayes of Oving. They were married in 1765

A possble grandson is Thomas Mew, Blacksmith of Lower Winchendon born in 1796.

Any other information on this Mew family, including descendants would be most welcome

Hi
Not sure if this will be relevant or not but Mew is an uncommon name.  My husband's Walker ancestors had a dairy and kept cows in Hyde Park in the 1800s.  One of their employees was called William Mews and we have a photo of him as an old man.  Probably taken early 1900s.   If ever you find a connection then I can send you a copy.

I have found the following on IGI,
Thomas Mew and Mary Campbell, married 30/4/1814, had the following children in Lower Winchendon

William Mew born 21/11/1815 Bap 10/3/1816

Sarah Mew Bap 2/10/1819, & on 13/8/1838 married James Varney

Prisella Mew Born 20/4/1821 Bap 23/1/1823, married Joseph Munt 12/9/1844

Thomas Mew son of Thomas Mew married Caroline E Cooling 26/6/1847, but I have not found his birth date yet. Hope this is of some help

Further to the above, I see on the Buckinghamshire Genealogy Soc. you can join for only 10 pounds a years and can borrow the parish Baptismal Records by post, thats got to be a bargain, membership starts in January of each year
