BREEDS FAMILY
« on: Sunday 02 January 05 02:16 GMT (UK) »
I am researching the family of JOHN BREEDS and ANN FANDELL who were married on October 8, 1820.  The other families I am researching are the WATERS, BRITCHER and STRICKLAND.  I have  the Strickland family researched back to 1066. ( I should say that my borther-in-law has done most of the Strickland research.)
The BRITCHER name appears in my family tree when JULIA BRITCHER BREEDS maried WILLIAM STRICKLAND.
Hoping to hear from anyone interested in the above names.
Sue

Hi,

Don't know if you know this or even if it will help, but the BREEDS name is a very common one is Sussex.

If you run a search on Rootschat for that name you will find a lot of info posted by Chris in1066land

Hi,
both Breeds and Strickland are family names from Hastings.
The Breeds name can be traced back to Canterbury Kent, where they ran the mint in the 7th century. The name was the Bridd and they moved to hastings and ran the mint with another family until the mint was closed by King Stephen. I have heard my family speak of the Stricklands and will look up some records I have somewhere to see about a John Breeds.
