I can't read this occupation for a convict relative of mine sent to Australia in 1839.

I am fairly sure the first workd is "gun" but I can't read the second word nor understand what this job is.

Any help appreciated

Gun Percussioner   with the long first s for the double-ss

no doubt something to do with making the gun go off with a bang   :)

I suppose its not out of the question for this to be the son of a Locksmith. They seem to share some of the same skills.

Sounds quite similar, having read the description of the percussioner, not something I've ever heard of before
