In 1891, I've got a possible sighting for Frederick. He's listed as a 15 year old servant from Bristol, living with Joseph Spicer, a haulier. Frederick is also listed as a haulier.

There's a Gearge Damsell's birth registered in the Reg. Dist. of Stroud in the Dec. qtr of 1841. (See freebmd)

If you do not have his b-cert, you'll need it in order to get back further.

Chalford is in the parish of Bisley - I've seen a few Damsells in the BT's - and that's in the Reg. Dist of Stroud.

P.S.  I note that in the 1851 census of Bisley, Ann Damsell aged 42 is with a George aged 9 and is shown as head of the family.
