Thanks again.

Any idea please how I would go about getting marriage certificates to check out the relatives?

How does one access the Londonderry Sentinel which seems to be a mine of information?

I have index of births, marriage, deaths in Londonderry Sentinel (1829-1869). Not sure where actual papers or microfilmed copies are available- possible Derry Public Library or Central Library in Belfast as a guess.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I am going to go quiet for a while now whilst I compile the family trees from the excellent material you have both given me, thanks.

I will be back though with more questions - that's a promise!!

Hello maryderry,

This could indeed be a second marriage of Audley WJ Bestall but what happened to his first wife Mary Jane Caldwell?

This is definitely the marriage of my grandfather Joseph Charles Mcfarlane to Charlotte Bestall which I was curious to find.  How exciting thanks  None of the family seemed to know where it had taken place but why a registry office and why Lisburn I wonder?

Can you let me know where are you finding the information you are sending me please?

Hello aghadowey,

Please would you be so kind as to consult your Londonderry Sentinel and see if it lists where Joseph McFarland and Elizabeth Young were born and who their parents were.

I am also curious to see in what way they are related to Noval or Neville McFarland of Newpark?

Any notices you can find would be very welcome to try to add to my jigsaw!

Many thanks.

Had already looked through indexes for McFarland/Young. Very few births would have been put in the paper (just like now, mostly deaths, some marriages, a few births)- Sentinel has 18700 deaths, 9900 marriages and only 6800 births.

Thanks so much for scouring all this information for me.  Looks like I will have to pay a visit to the churches, graveyards and parish records locally to go further back, maybe my new year resolution to visit northern Ireland.

In the meantime really looking forward to having a peep at the 1901 and 1911 census when they come online, any idea when that might be please?

Thanks again for this fantastic insight into my Irish families.

If you go to the website it tells you the order each county will be added:
www.nationalarchives.ie/census/1901_11/about/futureplans.html
Not sure of date but Co. Tyrone is very near the bottom
